Peace at Home Family Shelter is overwhelmed by the generosity of the northwest Arkansas community. Recently, PAH called for donations for the Peace at Home Thrift Store, located at 614 W. Sycamore, just between Gregg and Leverett in Fayetteville, and the response could not have been more positive.

“Donations have been incredible,” said Judith Selle, Peace at Home CEO. “We have filled every available storage room. It feels great to know that the women and children that we serve will be able to choose from a variety of clothing, furniture and other necessary items as they begin a new peaceful life for themselves.”

Often times, women and children must leave in the middle of the night with only the clothes on their backs or just a few suitcases. The Thrift Store allows Peace at Home’s clients to shop for free. The store is important for women who are rebuilding their household from scratch. Any extra funds raised through sales of items to the community support Peace at Home’s programs. To celebrate, PAH will hold a Midsummer half-price sale through July 11 on all items except furniture.

The Thrift Store is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10-5, and can be reached at (479) 973-9571.

Thanks to the Northwest Arkansas community, Peace at Home Family Shelter has seen a dramatic increase in clients who wish to create better lives for themselves and their children.

Over the past two years, our crisis calls have doubled, referrals have increased 79%, our community clients have increased 11 fold, and our shelter is full or near capacity most nights.

With the help of concerned citizens, groups, churches, and corporations, Peace at Home Family Shelter gets one step closer each day to fulfilling our mission to END family violence.

Our partnership with the community began with when the shelter was established in 1977.

We hope to see it grow stronger for years to come until no woman or child has to live in fear, but, rather, has peace at home.
