PEACE AT HOME PRESENTS A CAMPAIGN
FOR"SAFE SHELTER, NEW HOPE"

All funds raised will match a Donald W. Reynolds Foundation Grant for a new shelter

As the Northwest Arkansas community reaches out to domestic violence survivors, the demand for safe shelter has dramatically increased. The Peace At Home Family Shelter is excited to announce that we are the proud recipients of a Donald W. Reynolds Foundation Grant to be used to build a new shelter. We are now embarking on a capital campaign that will help make this larger shelter a reality. We will be working with several concerned and compassionate citizens to raise the necessary dollars needed for the new state-of-the-art facility, which will expand our services throughout the region.

The members of our Capital Campaign Leadership Team are:

Fred and Doreen Vorsanger – Honorary Chairs
Jay and Judy McDonald – Co-Chairs
James and Stacey Keenan – Co-Chairs

Since 1980, the Peace At Home Family Shelter, with the help of our friends and supporters, has served thousands of families in our current facility. This building has been a refuge for battered women and their children, and the programs provided in it have provided a springboard to new hope and healing for our residents.

The past 26 years have been hard on the building. Just this last year alone, over 3800 safe days and nights of shelter were provided. This is a tired old building, which is only still operating because our friends have donated hundreds of hours of volunteer time each year to paint it and fix it up as best as is possible.

Even more critical than the condition of the building is the fact is that the current facility is way too small. Most nights the shelter is at or over capacity. Almost every day we receive at least one call and sometimes six or more calls from battered women needing safe shelter for themselves and their children, and we do not have room. While we always work with the families to find safety, sometimes moving to another community is not possible. It is past time for a new shelter for Northwest Arkansas.

Thank you to our wonderful Capital Campaign Team for leading us toward the success of the Peace At Home Family Shelter Capital Campaign! Also, a heartfelt thanks to the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. The Donald W. Reynolds Foundation is a national philanthropic organization founded in 1954 by the late media entrepreneur for whom it is named. Headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, it is one of the largest private foundations in the United States.
