Our Services
24-Hour Crisis Line
You may call our shelter any time of the day or night. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some people call us if they have questions about domestic violence, what to do if they are in an abusive relationship, how to help a friend who is in an abusive relationship, questions about our services, as well as information about other resource agencies.
Spanish-speaking services
All of our services are offered to Spanish-speaking individuals by Spanish-speaking staff members or volunteers. All domestic violence material is also offered in Spanish.
Advocacy
We offer daily, individual advocacy sessions for the women in our shelter. Upon entering the shelter, each woman is able to set individual goals for herself and the advocacy sessions are designed to help the women reach those goals. The meetings are also educational as each advocate is well trained about the dynamics of domestic violence. The advocates assist the women with the logistics of living independently, such as housing options, available child care, job opportunities, etc. Advocates are also trained to assist women with applying for Crime Victims' Reparations, which may help cover expenses such as hospital bills and counseling costs. These services are also available to women who are not in shelter.
Support Groups
We offer a support group for both the individuals living in the shelter and for people in the community. These groups are open to non-residents who are in an abusive relationship, recently left an abusive relationship, or for those who just need the support from those who understand what they are going through. Our support groups are held in a confidential location to protect the safety of the women and children who attend.
Follow-up services
As women move out of the shelter, we schedule follow-up services, such as weekly advocacy sessions, accompaniment to court, and continued emotional support. We encourage former residents to continue their education about domestic violence by attending support groups and other educational opportunities. We also plan many field trips, outings, and special events to provide families with the opportunity to spend fun, quality time with one another in a healthy environment.
Thrift store
Through the use of donations from the community, we operate a thrift store that our clients may utilize free of charge. The thrift store accepts clothing, furniture, and household items that are necessary for families to establish independent living, as well as provide them with replacement items left behind. We sell items at low cost to the public and all revenue over expenses goes to support our services.
Services are provided to victims in the community as well as in the shelter. You DO NOT have to come into the shelter for services!
